
Chongye Burial Mounds
Chongye Burial Mounds holds the largest tombs of Tibetan Kings. So it gives strong evidence to Tibetan pre-Buddhist culture. As for the location, It lies in the southwest of the Dzong Hill. And it belongs to Qonggyai County of Shannan Prefecture.
To illustrate, the tombs kept Tsampos, their wives and officials. And they are varied in size, covering a total area of 3 million square meters. Moreover, it is worth to mention that the rammed earth on the tomb has become a part of the natural hill landscape. And there are 21 tombs here according to officials. Among them, experts have already found 11 tombs since 1989. And the earliest tomb belongs to Zhigung Tsampo (the 8th Tsampo). To get a broad view, you can watch the tombs from a far distance. Then you can see a dozen of giant bombs lying from south to north in the valley.
