Day 1: Lhasa arrival,Accommodation: Tashi Norta Hotel or Snow Heaven International Hotel or Ganggyan Hotel Lhasa or similar one if late booking
Day 2: Highlight city tour in Lhasa -Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street
Day 3: One-day sacred tour of Drepung and Sera Monastery
Travel tips: if Day 3 is Sunday, there is no debate in Sera Monastery, so we will need to exchange the sightseeing Day 2 and Day 3. It means we will visit Drepung and Sera on Day 2.
Day 4: Lhasa to Shigatse (280 km, about 4-5 hours)
Accommodation: Shigatse city Gesar hotel or Shigatse Manasarovar Hotel or similar one if late booking
Day 5: Shigatse- Shegar-EBC (340 km, about 7-8 hours)
Accommodation: You can choose to stay at nomad tent house near Campsite or guesthouse near Rongphu Monastery
Day 6: EBC to Shigatse city (340 km, about 7-8 hours)
Accommodation: Shigatse Manasarovar Hotel or Gesar Hotel or similar one if late booking
Day 7: Shigatse city-Gyantse-Karola Glacier-Lake Yamdrok-Lhasa (350 km)
Accommodation same as first night
Day 8: Final Departure, free transfer to airport or train station (leaving Lhasa at 8:00 am and 1 pm), if your departure is quite different, you can also book private car transfer to airport, optionally go by airline shuttle bus (RMB 30 per person, about 4.5$ per person).

Day 1: Arrive in Lhasa and rest for acclimatization

Upon your arrival at the Airport or Train Station, our Tibet Travel Expert tour guide and driver will pick you up and transfer to the hotel in Lhasa. In case of the plateau climate and the mountain sickness, please do not do much exercise on the first day, because you need a good rest in hotel for acclimatization.

Day 2: Highlight city tour in Lhasa -Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street

Day 3: Drepung and Sera Monastery

Our Tibet Travel Expert tour guide and driver will pick you up from hotel in the morning and transfer to Drepung Monastery, one of the three greatest Gelug Monasteries in Tibetan Buddhism. Drepung is quiet and intimate, and the sightseeing is stunning, the villages around the monastery is very picturesque with local people walking up and down the narrow alleys.

In the afternoon, finally it comes to the exciting moment of highlight monk’s debate in Sera Monastery. At 3:00 pm (except Sundays), the monks will gather together and challenge each other on matters of philosophy which is impressive and memorable.

Travel tips: if today is Sunday, we will exchange the program of day 2 and day 3 because on Sunday, there is no debating activities between Tibetan Monks.

Day 4: Lhasa to Shigatse (280 km, about 4-5 hours)

Tibetan Travel Guide and driver from Tibet Expert Expert Team will pick you up from hotel at 8 am and we will leave Lhasa for Shigatse city. Shigatse is the second largest city in Tibet. On the way, you will enjoy the extraordinarily beautiful landscape, our guide will inform you and give you enough time for taking pictures and have lunch as well. From 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, you will visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, which locates at the Shigatse city. It is the seat of Tibetan’s second highest incarnation, the Panchen Lama.

Tips: this afternoon, our guide will take your passport to obtain the PSB permit (Alien’s travel permit) for the trip additional permission to New Tingri and Mt.Everest Base Camp. (It takes about 30 minutes). During this period, you may either wait in the vehicle or just walk around. The application could be arranged next morning alternatively according to the local PSB situation

Day 5 Shigatse- Shegar-EBC (340 km, about 7-8 hours)

Landscape driving from Shigatse city to Rongphu Monastery (Shegar), which is the highest monastery in the world at 16,404 feet (5,000 m) high, and belongs to Nyingma section. After visiting Rongphu Monastery, we will drive to campsite. You can choose to trek for 4 km (about 1.5 hours) or take a local shuttle for about 25 RMB from campsite to Everest Base Camp (EBC). You do not want to miss this stunning sunset from EBC sightseeing stand.

Day 6 EBC to Shigatse city (340 km, about 6-7 hours)

Waking up this morning below the stunning north face of Mt. Everest (8844.43 m), the tallest mountain on Earth, you will enjoy the Everest Sunrise and catch the last glimpse of Everest. For those travelers who want to go to Base Camp in the morning to have a closer view to Everest, we can take the local shuttle to Everest. B.C. After taking the photos, we come back to Campsite and then head to Shigatse (340 km). You will be wrapped again in the endless vistas of the Tibetan plateau during the trip.

Day 7 Shigatse city-Gyantse-Karola Glacier-Lake Yamdrok-Lhasa (350 km)

Finishing the breakfasts before 7:50 am, we will start the drive at 8 am from Shigatse to Gyantse on the Southern Friendship Highway. The 90 km landscape driving takes about 2 hours. At Gyantse city, we are going to visit Palkhor Choede Monastery and Kumbum Pagoda which is famous for “the Ten Thousand Buddha Pagodas”. We will have lunch after the visit. Later we will drive onward to visit Karola Glacier. Far in the distance, you’ll spot the towering massif Mt. Nojin Kangsang (7,191 m) and the staggering Karola Glacier (5,045 m). And then we will drive to visit Lake Yamdrok. We will drive along the lake bank road, have view to the lake from different position, and we can even spend some leisure time to walk beside the lake. After climbing over the summit of Mt. Kamba La (4990 m), you will face the gorgeous Lake Yamdrok and have amazing view of the lake. Here you may consider to have a cheap yak ride and picture shooting if you want. The photography is just around RMB 30 and you can pay to the yak rider directly. After the highlight sightseeing to Lake Yamdrok, we will wind down from the Gangbala Mountain to Lhasa Gonggar Airport highway crossing point and then drive to Lhasa around 6 pm. Day 8 Final Departure

Our driver will pick up your group in the hotel and transfer to the airport or train station (group tour drop off time is at 8 am and 1 pm for free transfer). If your flight or train departure schedule is different, you can take Airline shuttle bus (RMB 30 to 35 per person) to airport or taxi to railway station (RMB 40-50 per transfer) easily. The Tibet lower tour season is amazing time for travelling to Everest even though the month of February and March is closed normally. The lower season of April, May, June, September, October are very good because it is less crowded and it is much cheaper.
